Online Inspiration

So much is happening in the creative world.  One of the best ways to keep your thumb on the pulse is to visit a blog. Blogs are online journals that are informative, personal, and ever changing. They are very visual, too as many of them contain photos or a link to an album.

A favorite is The Jolly Jabber { http://fatquartershop.blogspot.com}. It’s stuffed with quilting ideas and tips, comments on what designers are up do … and recipes! Quilter’s Buzz { http://www.quiltersbuzz.com} is the place to go for the most up-to-date news in the industry. Subscribe so you won’t miss a thing! Hello my name is Heather {http://heatherbailey.typepad.com} features the work of Free Spirit™ fabric designer Heather Bailey. It’s filled with tutorials and daily commentary on what it’s like to be a mom, quilter and designer. And you need to visit Pam Kitty Morning {http://www.pamkittymorning.blogspot.com} for her entertaining perspective on crafting, quilting and living. Finally, for all you Indie crafters, Craftzine {http://craftzine.com/blog} is just for you!

The bloggers  ‘favorites’ list will lead you to other blogs that the writer enjoys. Be sure to leave a comment when you can. Bloggers love to know they’ve made a connection … and possibly a new friend!

Aprons aren't just for the kitchen!

In the 40’s and 50’s, wearing an apron moved from being a means of keeping your clothes clean to an image of what the ‘perfect mother’ was all about. It was part of the daily wardrobe, even while entertaining. Can you remember those frilly cocktail aprons mom or grandma wore for entertaining?

After their rejection in the 70’s, aprons have become stylish again. They’re perfect for the kitchen and the craft room, as you use them to cover up while doing messy tasks. Aprons are a great tool for carrying items from one place to another, or holding tools while you multi-task. The Pocket Apron by Vanilla House is perfect for this.

With the vintage look so popular, it’s easy to find companies with fun apron patterns. Indygo Junction  and Anna Lena's  have lots of choices. And if you need inspiration, the Sew Mama Sew blog is filled with ideas, how-to’s and tutorials.

Sew, make an apron today. You’ll be so stylish!
